Overview

HoldTalk is a voice dictation app for Mac. Hold the fn key, speak, then release: the text goes in at the cursor, in any app (mail, Slack, Word, your browser or your own software). For long dictation, tap fn once and speak hands-free.

Transcription runs on your Mac with Apple's speech engine (SpeechAnalyzer, macOS 26). HoldTalk does not send your voice to a server and does not record it. You do not need an account.

  • Dictation in French, Spanish and English
  • A personal dictionary: add names and words, and HoldTalk fixes their spelling after each dictation
  • A searchable history of your last 1,000 dictations, so you can get back text that went to the wrong place
  • Your Mac's sound is muted while you dictate, and your clipboard comes back as it was
  • 7 days of unlimited dictation when you first open the app, no card and no account
  • Then free for up to 2,000 words a week
  • HoldTalk Pro: unlimited dictation for a one-time payment (19 EUR during the launch, then 29 EUR), one key for 2 Macs, 14-day refund

Requires a Mac with Apple silicon and macOS 26 or later.
